Children's Mental Health Week
Article posted on: 07/02/22
It's Children's Mental Health Week this week and we would like to share some valuable resources and links with you. Each day we will share a different trusted link/support service. As always, please get in touch with us at school if there is anything that you would like support with regarding your child(ren).
Mental Health Week Day 1:
Anna Freud is an excellent website that provides support for both young people and adults. It's easy to navigate and provides a wealth of information and support for mental health and/or wellbeing concerns.

One for our older pupils (and accessible for anyone over the age of 16) - Trent PTS. This is a self-referral service provided by the NHS for anyone (over 16) who is in need of mental health support. Life is hard sometimes and Trent PTS is available for when you need that extra bit of help.
You'll fill out some personal information and then someone will be in contact with you to see how then can best support you going forward. You just need to be registered with a GP in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire to access the service.

Mental Health Week Day 3:
Build Sound Minds can provide 1:1 counselling to pupils (any age) and their families. Referrals can be done by parents or someone in school. Once assessed, Build Sound Minds will work out the best support for the pupil and arrange for it to take place. We have had a number of our pupils use this service and the majority have found the support incredibly useful.

A firm favourite - Young Minds. Young minds are a brilliant charity and they host an excellent website that can provide a wealth of information written especially for young people who want some help and support regarding their mental health or wellbeing.
They also have a parental helpline where parents can ring up and speak to a mental health professional and they also provide a crisis line for young people who are in need of urgent support. It wouldn't be Mental Health Week without mentioning Young minds.

Mental Health Week Day 5:
For families who are experiencing difficulties with eating habits and food relationships, Derby has its own specialised Eating Disorder support service - First Steps. It is available for children and their families, young people, and adults affected by eating difficulties and disorders.
