Mission Statement

West Park has a long tradition of hard work and achievement encapsulated by the phrase which is carved into the ancient stone from the old Spondon School dated 1699.

This statement is as true today as it was then with staff and pupils alike enriched and inspired by the strong values that permeate the school. Everything at West Park is focused on every individual giving their best with outstanding pupil achievement being at the core.

A highly skilled and committed team of staff work cohesively across the school to ensure that the West Park experience is truly unique. They are all as dedicated as they are loyal and prioritise pupil care and progress every single day.

At West Park we are very proud of the pastoral care and guidance that we offer to all of our pupils. This stems from a large team of well-trained pastoral leaders who co-ordinate a team of form tutors who work with pupils and their families on a daily basis. Our pastoral base and specialist team provide further input on a 1 to 1 basis and deal swiftly with emerging safeguarding issues. SEND pupils are ably supported both in and out of curriculum time with time taken to understand their specific needs and to ensure that interventions are practical and effective.

The pupils themselves are enthused by the positive learning environment and are educated to care for each other and to develop core skills that they can utilise across their years at the school and beyond. They thrive in an environment of high expectations and ambition where every mechanism is utilised to enable all to thrive.

We also take time to prepare our pupils for the next steps after West Park and offer advice and guidance alongside a raft of opportunities brought about through close collaboration with local stake holders to ensure that all have clear next steps and a career pathway.
